It is not strictly necessary to know how to swim for the Discover Scuba Diving experience, as it takes place in very shallow water and you are always accompanied by a certified instructor. However, feeling comfortable in the water is definitely a plus to fully enjoy the adventure.
It's very simple. After disembarking at the Costa Maya port, you can take an official taxi or rent a golf cart. We are located just a 5 to 10-minute drive from the cruise terminal, right on the main boardwalk (malecón) of Mahahual. We highly recommend booking your shore excursion in advance to guarantee your spot and equipment.
The best season to visit is from May to September when sea conditions are at their calmest and visibility is extraordinary. During these months, you are much more likely to have spectacular close encounters with nurse sharks, manatees, and experience the vibrant coral reefs at their absolute best.
